An independent Midlands accountancy firm has made a senior appointment in its Coventry team as part of a series of promotions.
HB&O, which has offices in Birmingham, Coventry and Leamington, has promoted Mathew Neal to Head of Accounts Coventry as part of 12 promotions made at the firm.
Mathew, from Coventry, joined the business in 2003 and will take a senior management role in HB&O’s audit and accounts department.
The accounts team in Coventry, based at Severn Stars House, includes 15 chartered accountants, business growth consultants and financial advisers, forming part of a 100-strong team across the company.
The raft of promotions has included seven further members of the audit and accounts team, across HB&O’s three offices.
Jack Dunne, from Solihull, joined the firm in 2023 and has been promoted to Senior Manager. It follows Jack joining the Emerging Leaders Programme for DFK International, a global association of independent accounting, tax and business advisory firms.
Tim Smith, from Coventry, joined the business in 2021 and has progressed to Accounts Senior after achieving chartered accountant status from the ACA. Meanwhile Sophie Butteriss, from Leicestershire, has been promoted to Accounts Semi Senior following the completion of her final ACCA exams and becoming a chartered accountant.
Four trainee accountants have also continued their development at the company. Anu Muthulingam, Lewis Hogan, Neelam Marwaha and Sophie French have all stepped up to a more senior grade within the Apprentice Trainee Accountant programme.
Further promotions have been made across other departments, including in its growing Virtual Finance Office (VFO) team. Matt King, from Coventry, has been promoted to VFO Senior Manager, while Louis Scallon, from Coventry, has advanced to a higher grade within his managerial role.
Chris Sudbury, from Leamington, and Thomas Callis, from Atherstone, have both moved up to more senior roles within the tax team.
