Credit Controller

Job Description

Location: Leamington Spa

Salary: Competitive and dependent on experience.

Hours: Permanent, Monday-Friday, 36.5 hours per week

Reports to: Finance Manager

Job Summary: The Credit Controller will be responsible for managing the debts of the company, ensuring timely payment of invoices, and maintaining the overall financial stability of the business. This role involves negotiating payment plans, and handling payment disputes.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and monitor a credit control system in collaboration with finance, and senior team members.
  • Establish policies that follow customer service best practices while ensuring customers submit payments on time.
  • Negotiate payment plans with customers and set payment terms and conditions accordingly.
  • Maintain sales ledger records, conduct regular analysis of the credit-control system, and implement changes as needed to reduce bad debts.
  • Report any payment issues to management.
  • Follow up on overdue invoices and payments and implement company collections procedures as necessary.
  • Look for ways to improve debt collection processes.
  • Generate financial statements and reports detailing accounts receivable status.
  • Process payments and refunds.

 

Qualifications and experience:

  • Proven work experience as a Credit Controller or similar role.
  • Solid understanding of basic accounting principles, fair credit practices, and collection regulations.
  • Data entry skills along with a knack for numbers.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, accounting and direct debit software. (Xero and Mandate Express ideally but not essential)

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
